Farming on Main Street Documentary

Farming On Main Street is a 316 Production that tells the story of Main Street Farms in Cortland and Homer, N.Y. Allan Gandelman, a former social studies teacher, came up with the idea after being disappointed with the quality of food served in the school cafeteria. After quitting his job and partnering up with his college friend Bob Cat, they invested in an aquaponics agricultural system to grow produce year-round and educate the local community. Since their start in 2011, Allan and Bob have expanded their business outside of aquaponics by purchasing more land and farming in high tunnels and greenhouses. Main Street Farms provides food for local schools, small grocery stores, restaurants, the Syracuse Regional Market, and their CSA members in Central New York.
